Jamie Reynolds is a first nations artist from Regina Saskatchewan. Graduating from the University of Regina in 2010, she has spent the last decade involved in the local arts community as a teacher, curator, facilitator, speaker, mural painter, and artist in residence. From surreal self-portraits to pastoral paintings, her art showcases her dark sense of humour and love of vibrant colour.

We are instinct-driven beings, repressing parts of ourselves to fit our busy modern life roles. When dreaming, our minds are allowed to explore these instincts, in ways that are sometimes scary, exciting, pleasurable, or nightmarish. This painting is part of her "Dream-bodies" series, a collection of paintings that examine the connection between our unconscious selves and the natural world. "Hive Mind" is a glimpse of the artist's creative center, and the buzzing, squirming ideas within.
